Chickens Are Warm Friendly And a Lot More Fun Than You Probably Imagine – So Why Not Keep Chickens?
Let’s face it there are many pets and animals that we do and can choose in order to enhance our lives and ultimately learn more about theirs, but have you ever classed keeping chickens in this list? If not then you are not only missing out on the best tasting omelettes that you could ever make as well as every other benefit available from having your very own free range egg producing friend. All you need is a hen house a couple of chickens and some good information.
Keeping chickens does not have to be as unglamorous as most people tend to think. They take up a lot less room than you probably realise and cost very little to keep and look after.
On top of that they can be very friendly and are a lot cleaner than most possibly imagine. They will take as much or as little room up as you want to give them and housing them can be done in a couple of ways.
You can buy readymade chicken coops that invariably never seem to quite meet your requirements or your chickens. On top of that can be the high cost of buying a ready to go hen house.
The funny thing about this is that it almost defeats the object as they are more often than not delivered in a flat pack form, which means you may have to have a day off to be there when it arrives as well as the fact that you will still need to put all the pieces together.
So what is the difference there to building one yourself from scratch? Plans and designs can be obtained easily these days as well as a whole lot more information that will have you building the Hilton of hen houses at a fraction of the cost of a so-called readymade hen house.
Even building your chickens their hen house is great fun and once you have feel comfortable that you have all the right information to do so it will be very highly rewarding too.
There are of course certain factors to take into consideration such as predators and preventing damp and possible cold infiltrating your hen house, but again this information is readily available, but a tip here is to keep the coop raised and the run as deep into the ground as you can.
Once you have completed building your own hen house for keeping chickens you will have the next exciting task in hand and that is going out and buying your very own feathered friends to live in it. A tip to think about here is that the happier your chickens actually are the more eggs they will produce for you.
